WAZUGNL 23: Delta-N (Den Haag)

Donderdag 4 december 2014 was er een bijeenkomst van de Nederlandse Microsoft Azure User Group. Dit keer was Delta-N zo vriendelijk om de locatie in Den Haag te sponsoren. Er stonden een aantal zeer interessante ‘reference cases’ op het programma die aantonen waar de grote kracht van Azure ligt!

A startup company has acquired the rights for live streaming and video-on-demand to mobile devices for many major soccer leagues in several countries. Their ambition is to grow to millions of paying customers within a couple of years. The customer needed a solution that scales efficiently with that demand. Of course, Azure is very suitable as the platform for such a solution including the video streaming part. Microsoft Services has architected and realized the back-end part of the solution: user and subscription management, payments, video and sports data distribution. In close collaboration with other companies that developed the front-end website and mobile apps. In this session we will explain the architecture of the system running on Azure and how we achieved to be able to deliver live video of many simultaneous matches and near-real time soccer data to millions of devices.

19:40u–20:40u Sessie 2: Erik Jansen (Microsoft) – Een digital platform voor één van de grootste sportclubs ter wereld

Grote sportclubs hebben veel fans, zowel in eigen land als daarbuiten. Hoe communiceer je als club met deze fans? Hoe zorg je ervoor dat je de fans de optimale beleving geeft, en hoe bind je ze? Voor één van de grootste sportclubs ter wereld heeft Microsoft de opdracht gekregen om hiervoor een platform te realiseren. Erik is als architect nauw betrokken bij het bepalen van de architectuur voor dit platform, en in deze presentatie legt hij uit hoe Azure ingezet is om dit platform te realiseren in een globaal schalende architectuur. Om beheer te minimaliseren is zoveel mogelijk gekozen voor PaaS diensten. Uiteraard maken we uitvoerig gebruik van Azure Storage en Azure Websites, maar ook van de nieuwe functionaliteiten zoals DocumentDB, Azure Search en Azure Data Factory.
