WAZUGNL 12: Cap Gemini in Utrecht

Dinsdag 29 januari 2013, was er een bijeenkomst van de Nederlandse Windows Azure User Group. Ook deze keer hadden we weer interessante en verrassende sessies voor jullie in petto van welbekende sprekers.

De agenda zag er als volgt uit:

• 17:45u-18:30u. Sessie 1: Vassil Stoitsev & Hans Harts (Cap Gemini)- Windows Azure Media Services in de praktijk:

Rich media content has become an important part of the corporate communication during the last decade. As an extension to its diverse Windows Azure platform, Microsoft now offers Media Services which enable among others streaming, encoding and management of multimedia data. This session explores the technicalities around this service and provides additionally a real-life example of how Windows Azure Media Services are utilized by a multi-platform tablet application.

• 19:15u-20:00u Sessie 2: Felienne Hermans  (Infotron)- De Breviz Spreadsheet Analyse Tool:

Infotron was founded in 2010 as a TU Delft spin off and specializes in the development of software to visualize and test spreadsheets. Initially, their system was released as a stand alone Windows application, but a second release was Azure Web application, where a user can upload a spreadsheet and feedback is given inside the browser. In this talk Infotron founder Felienne will illustrate the background of the Azure implementation, that was quite easy to build and ideal for a startup, because of the low upfront investment.

• 20.00u-20:45u Sessie 3: Valery Jacobs (Valid) – Windows Azure  & NodeJS:

Deze interactieve sessie gaat in op het concept achter NodeJS en de toepassing ervan bij de ontwikkeling van real-time asynchrone applicaties. Wat is de relatie tussen Windows Azure en NodeJS? Hoe wordt NodeJS in de praktijk gebruikt? Met behulp van demo’s en praktijkvoorbeelden wordt duidelijk gemaakt hoe krachtig deze tool kan zijn voor (web) development. Neem een kijkje in de keuken van het meest populaire open source server framewerk van dit moment!
